Michael grew up in a Christian home in Simpson County and went to church regularly during his childhood. At around age 12, he began to realize from God’s Word that he was a sinner and that he needed forgiveness for his sins. A few weeks later, Michael surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized.
While attending Jones County Junior College, Michael met his wife, Patsy. After serving in the United States Air Force and working in the sales industry, God called Michael into the gospel ministry. Michael had a great desire to preach the Gospel and began preaching right away. During his time at seminary, Michael and Patsy heard God’s call to overseas mission work. In May of 1999, Michael and Patsy, with their four children, were appointed as career missionaries with the International Mission Board. Michael and Patsy served as cross-cultural missionaries in Russia for 23 years. During these years, they were heavily involved in every aspect of missionary work, evangelism, discipleship, and healthy church formation.
After retiring from the IMB in June of 2022, Michael was called to serve on staff at Park Place. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife of 37 years, his children and grandchildren, playing disc golf, riding horses, traveling, and going for long walks.
